To increase employment opportunities among the young citizens of India who are generally between the age group of 21 to 24 years the authorities launched the PM Internship Scheme. For the monthly assistance the Government of India will provide a stipend of up to INR 4500 and the industry will add another INR 500 making a total of INR 5000 per intern. The duration of the internship under the scheme is 12 months. To maintain the security of all the young citizens the central government of India will also provide insurance coverage under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana.

Objective of Internship Scheme
The main objective of launching the internship scheme is to allow young citizens to get hands-on experience. With the help of this scheme, young students will get a chance to become an intern in top companies in India including Jubilant Foodworks, Maruti Suzuki India, Eicher Motors, Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Muthoot Finance, etc. A total of 90000+ internship opportunities are available on the official portal of different companies. Along with the monthly stipend, the intense will also get a one-time allowance of INR 6000 for their settlement.
Schedule of PM Internship Scheme
- The registration form for the PM Internship Scheme will open on 12th October 2024 and the last date to fill out the registration form is 26th October 2024.
- The shortlisting process will start on 26th October 2024 where the government will shortlist the candidates and send the application to the companies.
- The selection process will run from 27th October 2024 to 7th November 2024 where the companies will select the candidates.
- The companies will start giving the offer letter from 8th November 2024 to 11th November 2024.
- The first batch of interns will start working from 2nd December 2024.

Eligibility Criteria
- The young citizens must be a permanent resident of India.
- The young citizens must be currently unemployed.
- The young citizens must have at least cleared class 10th.
- The annual income of the young citizen’s family must not exceed INR 8 lakh.
- The young citizens must be between the age group of 21 to 24 years.
Ineligibility Criteria
- All the citizens whose annual income is more than INR 8 lakh are not eligible to apply.
- All dose citizens whose family member is a government employee is not eligible to apply.
- Graduates from IITs, ILMs, National Law Universities, USER, NIDs, and IllTs are not eligible to apply for the scheme.
- Those having qualifications such as CA, and CMA. CS, MBBS, BDS. MBA, any master’s or higher degree.
- Those undergoing any skill, apprenticeship, internship or student training program under Central Government or State Government schemes.
- Those who have completed the apprenticeship. training under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) or the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) at any point.
Education Qualifications
- The young citizens must have cleared Higher Secondary (12th).
- The young citizens must have an ITI Certificate, Polytechnic Diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree (BA, BSc, B.Com, BCA, BBA, B.Pharma).
Partner Company Criteria
- The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) Will select the top 500 companies in India based on their average CSR expenditure over the last 3 years.
- After MCA approval other companies banks or financial institutes may participate in the scheme especially if they represent underrepresented sectors.
- If a partner company cannot offer an internship it can collaborate with other companies within their group.
