Under this yojana, the federal government and the state of Rajasthan will convert 3 crore irrigation pumps now powered by gasoline and diesel to ones powered by solar energy. As part of the Kusum Scheme 2024, farmers in the nation who now use diesel or gasoline to power irrigation pumps will be eligible to switch to solar power. 1.75 lakh gasoline and gas outlets around the nation would be powered by solar panels during the project’s initial phase. Under the PM KUSUM Yojana, farmers, farmer groups, panchayats, and cooperative societies are eligible to apply for a solar pump.
