  • This programme was launched by the Indian government to establish micro and small-scale coir production facilities around the nation.
  • The maximum cost of a coir project should be up to Rs 10 lakh only under the Central Government’s Coir Udyami Yojana 2022, and the cost of working capital will not be included in the project cost.
  • The beneficiary applicant will be required to pay only 5% of the project cost and will be eligible for a government subsidy of 40% of the project cost at the start of the project.
  • The Central Government offers the applicant a loan with favourable terms for the remaining 55% of the project’s cost.
  • By this plan, the project cost plus one cycle of working capital cannot be greater than 25% of the project cost.
  • Under this Government of India programme, organisations, people, NGOs, self-help groups, registered societies, production cooperative societies, and charitable trusts are all eligible to apply.

The government established the Coir Board, also known as the Jute Board, which reports to the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises and is responsible for promoting goods made of jute. The board has established the CUY, or Coir Entrepreneur Scheme, under which any person who is skilled in jute-related employment and wishes to start a business can benefit by applying. This programme requires the applicant to contribute 5% of the project cost on his behalf, and 55% of the loan is provided by the banks with a seven-year repayment period. The Coir Board offers the applicant a 40 per cent subsidy.

Eligibility Criteria

The central government has established several eligibility requirements for applicants to the Coir Udyami Yojana, some of which are as follows:-

  • Such candidates will be deemed qualified under this programme if they are the proprietors of either a home or a place of business.
  • The application will also be regarded qualified if the ownership of the place of business or one of the homes is held in the names of the applicant’s parents, brothers’ or sisters’ spouses, sons’ or daughters’ parents, husbands or wives.
  • The applicant’s jute industry must be at least two years old.
  • The minimum annual ITR of the jute-related industry should be Rs 1.5 lakh under the Coir Udyami Yojana 2022.
  • The applicant’s company must generate a minimum of Rs 10 lakh in annual revenue. The applicant shall not deem qualified if the company’s annual turnover is less than Rs 10 lakh in such case.

How Do I Apply For A Jute Entrepreneur Scheme Offline?

For this programme, there is an offline application process in addition to the online one, and it is as follows:-

  • You must first visit the Panchayati Raj Department, the Jute Board Office, the District Industrial Center, and the Jute Project Office.
  • From there, you must take the application form and complete it with all the requested information.
  • After that, you must send this application form together with photocopies of the required documentation.
  • Your application will now be forwarded to the government agency for additional processing. After careful review, if the application is granted, the applicant will be notified.
