The Tamil Nadu government has started giving free laptops again to students, but this time it is not exactly the same as how the old government did it before because now only college students will get it, and they can choose if they want a laptop or a tablet, which was announced by the Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu on Thursday. Earlier, the Tamil Nadu Free Laptop Scheme was given to Class 12 students and also to those studying in government colleges, but now it is changed a little bit. The students are happy because they can choose what they need, and learning will be easier for them as they can use technology for studies.

Budget Allocation for TN Laptop Scheme 2025

In the Tamil Nadu Budget for 2025-26, a huge amount of Rs. 2,000 crore has been kept aside by the government so that free laptops and tablets can be given to students, and in the next two years, almost 20 lakh students will be benefited by this scheme. While speaking in the Assembly, Minister Thennarasu told that because artificial intelligence is changing the world so fast, students must be given better technical knowledge and skills so they can stay ahead. This plan was made because, four years ago, a promise was given to the people, and now students from different colleges, like arts, science, engineering, medical, and agriculture, will get these high-tech devices.
