The objective of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana 2024
To give clean fuel to women living below the poverty line, the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was established. The usage of dirty cooking fuel is detrimental to people’s health. The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana has the following objectives:
- To promote the health and empowerment of women.
- To reduce the health risks associated with cooking with dirty fossil fuels and alternative fuels.
- To reduce indoor pollution brought by using fossil fuels, which can lead to respiratory problems.
- To stop the widespread use of dirty cooking fuel from deteriorating the purity of the environment.
Benefits of Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana
Due to non-communicable illnesses including heart disease, stroke, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and lung cancer, filthy cooking fuel is a major cause of mortality. Providing LPG connections to families living below the poverty line guarantees that cooking gas is available to everyone in the nation. Because LPG connections and clean cooking fuel might cut down on cooking time and effort, the programme may help empower women. In the majority of India, women are the only ones who are responsible for cooking. Rural youngsters are also employed by the programme in the supply chain for cooking gas. The government also offered a relief package worth Rs. 1.70 lakh crore as part of the PM Garib Kalyan Scheme to address the financial issues brought on by the COVID-19 epidemic.
