What Is PMGKAY Scheme 2024

Objective of PMGKAY Scheme

• The main objective of the PMGKAY Scheme is to provide ration free of cost
• Under the scheme, the government provides 5 kg of food grains to the citizens holding antuoday and priority ration card

PMGKAY Scheme Extension

The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan ann Yojana was launched in the year 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. This scheme was initially launched for a period 3 months but the government has extended this scheme from time to time considering the needs of the beneficiaries. Now the union cabinet has decided to extend the scheme till the year 2024. Under this scheme, around 81.35 crore beneficiaries are benefited. The government will spend 11.8 lakh crore for the next 5 years for the implementation of this scheme. This scheme will improve the standard of living of the beneficiaries. The food grains provided under the scheme will be according to the preference of the beneficiaries

• PMGKAY Scheme has been launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 26 March 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic

• Applicant must be a permanent resident of India
• The applicant must have antyodaya or priority ration card
