Nijut Moina 2.0 was launched by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, and a meeting was held with Ministers, MLAs, DCs, principals, and education officers to review the plan. The scheme will start on August 6, and forms will be given to girl students from Higher Secondary, UG, PG, B.Ed., and ITEP courses. It was said that the scheme is made to help poor girls, so they don’t leave school and can study more. Girls of Class 11 will get Rs. 1,000, degree 1st year girls will get Rs. 1,250, and PG or B.Ed. Students will get Rs. 2,500 every month. Officers were told to update data, spread awareness, and reach every girl.

Nijut Moina Second Edition Launched

Nijut Moina 2.0 was launched by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, and a review meeting was held to check all preparations for its rollout. The scheme gives financial help to eligible girl students for higher studies. And it was told that this time even resident girl students of Assam studying in central universities like Tezpur and Assam University will be included. DCs and the Education Department were asked to make the scheme a model of inclusive and good governance in education. In this second edition, more coverage will be given, and better coordination among district officers was told to be done. The CM also said benefits should be given on time, and full outreach must be ensured.

Motive of Nijut Moina 2.0

The main motive of Nijut Moina 2.0 is to give financial support to girl students so they can continue higher studies without leaving school in between, which happens many times in poor families. The scheme was made to help girls, especially from a weak background, and to reduce dropout rates. Financial Benefits

  • Girl students enrolled in Class 11 will be given Rs. 1,000 per month for up to 10 months, which means they will get a total of Rs. 10,000 in one year.
  • Students who are in the first year of Graduation (B.A./B.Sc./B.Com.) will receive Rs. 1,250 every month for a maximum of 10 months, making it Rs. 12,500 per year.
  • For those enrolled in the first year of Post-Graduation (M.A./M.Sc./M.Com./B.Ed.), Rs. 2,500 per month will be paid for up to 10 months, which totals Rs. 25,000 yearly.

  • Step 4: From the second year, it was said that no form would be needed again; only a certificate from the Head of the Institution would be enough to show that the girl is still studying there.
  • Step 5: Every school and college was told to choose one or two Nodal Teachers who will help in doing the Nijut Moina work in their institute in a proper and clear way.
  • Step 6: Guardians can also decide if they want their daughters to apply or not, because it was said that some families may not like to take the benefits under the scheme.
