The National Youth Parliament Scheme (NYPS) was started by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. A web portal was launched on 26th November 2019 to help more people join the Youth Parliament Programme. NYPS 2.0 was introduced so that everyone can participate. There are three ways. Institution Participation allows schools and colleges to hold a Youth Parliament Sitting. Group Participation lets citizens form formal or informal groups to conduct their own. Individual Participation allows anyone to take a quiz on “Bharatiya Democracy in Action”. This helps more people learn about democracy.

What is NYPS 2.0 Portal?

The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs made a new version of the National Youth Parliament Scheme (NYPS) web portal. It is called NYPS 2.0. Before, only students from certain schools could join. But now, everyone can. No matter who they are. No matter where they live. People can take part in three ways. Schools can do Institution Participation, where students join in Kishore Sabha or Tarun Sabha. Groups of people can do Group Participation by organizing Youth Parliament sittings. One person alone can join too. They can try a quiz called “Bharatiya Democracy in Action”. The government wants more people to know about it. Letters were sent. Messages were given. Democracy should be understood by all.

Type of NYPS Participation

There are three ways to take part in the National Youth Parliament Scheme:

Institution Participation

  • Schools and colleges can join. They must follow the rules given on the portal. Students from Class VI to XII can be in Kishore Sabha. Undergraduate and Postgraduate students can be in Tarun Sabha.

Group Participation

  • People can make groups. It can be formal or informal. They can do Youth Parliament sittings by following the rules on the portal.
