The Social Welfare Department of the Government of Jammu & Kashmir launched a Social Welfare scheme called the Jammu and Kashmir Marriage Assistance Scheme for the poor unmarried girls of the state. The girls should be a part of Antyodya Anna Yojana and the Priority Household ration card holder family of Jammu & Kashmir. The District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) is responsible for verifying the beneficiary’s information, including her age and marital status, and presenting the case to the Deputy Commissioner along with the necessary paperwork and recommendations. The selected beneficiary will get a one-time benefit of Rs. 50,000 for marriage. They should apply before one month of marriage. The amount of benefit will be directly transferred into the bank account of the candidate via the DBT method.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must fulfill the following eligibility criteria before applying under the scheme:
- The candidate must be a permanent resident of Jammu & Kashmir.
- Candidate should be a Girl above the age of 18 years.
- The girl candidate is ready for marriage.
- Candidates should pass class 8th in case of school drop out.
- The girls should be a part of Antyodya Anna Yojana and the Priority Household ration card holder family of Jammu & Kashmir.
- Candidates must apply for the scheme one month of marriage, a copy of their AAY or PHH ration card, their Aadhaar card, documentation of their marriage, and documentation of their age to the relevant District Social Welfare Officer.
- The applicant cannot have received the financial benefit for the same use under another UT/Centrally Sponsored Scheme, particularly the Ladli Beti Scheme. Under the plan, she may only use the benefits once.
