The food distribution system in Delhi is managed through around 2,000 Fair Price Shops (FPS), serving 72.77 lakh people with the help of 17.77 lakh digital food security cards as of 31st March 2021. These ration cards are linked to Aadhaar to make the process easier. The Department of Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs regularly verifies the beneficiary data as per the National Food Security Act (NFSA) guidelines. This verification helps ensure that the benefits reach the right people and that the system remains fair and transparent.

About Delhi Ration Card
The Department of Food & Civil Supplies in Delhi helps people by giving them important food items at low prices. It works to make sure that everyone gets enough food and knows their rights as consumers. Delhi was the first state to start the National Food Security Act on 1st September 2013. Through the Public Distribution System (PDS), the government gives wheat and rice to all food card holders and sugar to only Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) card holders. To help people, the government has set up a helpline (1967 & 1800-110-841) and sends SMS alerts to keep them informed. The Delhi Public Grievance Commission also helps people if they have any complaints about the system.
